Monday:
First thing, please hand in your signed syllabus contract forms and then we will get started. We have an exciting day planned as it is our first day dealing with Mechanics. Any guesses on what the first thing we will learn in shop, you guessed it, Shop Safety. You can never be too safe in the shop and must learn how to conduct yourselves in a proper manner to maintain a safe working environment for all.
The first thing you will need to do is download the following documents:
After you have downloaded both files I need you to save them in your Info and Notes folder that you have created.
Your activity today you will need to team up with one partner. You and your partner need to read over and review all the guidelines from "50 Rules for Shop" and create a Top Five List to share with the class. You will put your list on one slide of a Google Preso and share your conclusions with the class. We will learn how to use a Google Preso together.
DUE ON WEDNESDAY at the end of the period
After we are finished, your independent assignment is to rewrite all 50 Rules, in which each rule is ten words or less. You can do this in Pages and have it ready to show me at the beginning of the next class period. (Hint: Any rule already under then words does not have to be revised, only rewritten). Title your document '50 Rules Revised.'
Wednesday:
Good day to all. Several things are going on today. I will be coming around to check your work on your 50 Rules Revised during and at the end of the period. I will introduce the new project for the class and share an example and then we will discuss and demo safe operation of two power tools you will be using constantly in the shop.
To being we will go over, take notes about and demo the cordless drill and the electric drill. Students will then be asked to model safe operation of the tool after the instructor has done so.
Here is your next project. And I have high expectations for this one. I do not want it to be thrown together at the very last minute. So get started early DUE ON FRIDAY at the beginning of the period Your first project is to create a Keynote presentation on how to safely and properly operate a specific tool. Below is an example of a preso done last year. You will choose your tool today and have time to work on this project in class today and at home tonight and tomorrow. We will be sharing and presenting them on Friday.
Instructions:
A minimum of ten slides
Must have a title slide with your name on it
All slides must contain pictures and instructions
Instructions should be accurate (come from sources provided)
Keep it simple and to the point
The preso should give the viewer a good idea about how to properly use each tool
(extra point awarded for movies, voice over, and exceptional presentations)
